Check out this really cool cell animation website!

I pretty much walks you through the many of the topics are covering and will cover in class.

Speaking of class -

Your formal lab reports are due the first Monday we return from Thanksgiving break (both sophomore classes).  Be sure to ask questions before next Tuesday if you are confused and need clarification on what is required.

When we return we will begin construction on our cell battle projects - start collecting refuse now as building material.

The upcoming Labs

Hello Class,

In addition to the "Osmosis" lab we have just finished we are preparing to do several labs and demonstrations that will tie in the "Enzyme Activity" lecture with the "Cells" lectures.  We will also be introducing the microscope and observing single celled organisms and their organelles soon!

Notes to follow so stay tuned!

Let's Build a cell

Hi Folks,

With a new 9-weeks we get a fresh start and an additional layer of complexity.  We have built matter up from the subatomic to the macromolecule scale, a scale rife with complex chemical interactions that seem to push the boundaries of human comprehension.  So like a good explorer we will dive headlong into an even more complex level of understanding by studying how macromolecules are arranged into the most basic unit of life (the threshold level of complexity that we scientists consider to be "living"), the cell.
