Science Symposium and a New Unit: The Cell Cycle

Hello Sophomores!

This week we have began our unit on the cell cycle, which in my own humble opinion is a fascinating topic that will span concepts such as cancer, aging, and the weirdness that is the plant kingdom.

If you haven't yet, be sure to review all of the lessons we cover in class by visiting Khan Academy and using that amazing web tool the Google Search bar.  For example: say I want to do some research on "telomere length and cancer".  I might try this ;)

On a different note:

Later this Spring we all will participate in the CBGS science symposium (seniors present their science research to the whole CBGS community).  Every year we host a guest speaker, and this year we are changing things up a bit by hosting a panel of experts that will be discussing ethics in science (Wayyyy coool)!

The members of the panel will be discussing the answers to questions that YOU SEND them.  Of course we would not simply let you ask uninformed questions (after all this is Governors School).

We expect you to read this article and be prepared to have a wonderful question written by next week!

Good luck!
